WT student rewarded for hard work

Employee of the Year excited to have been nominated

Wes Condray, senior political science major, was named Student Employee of the Year on April 12 during National Student Employment Week. Condray was nominated by Enrollment Management.
Condray received a plaque, a $75 gift certificate from the Buffalo Gold Card Office and his name was entered into the Southern Association of Student Employment Administration's regional event.
Twenty-three students at West Texas A&M University were nominated.
Nominees were considered on the following criteria: reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and their contributions to the departments they work in.
Each Nominee received a certificate of appreciation for their hard work and a $20 gift certificate from the Buffalo Gold Card Office.
This is WT"s 10th year celebrating Student Employment Appreciation Week.
Yvonne Wieck, coordinator of student employment services, said she hopes the event highlights how important student employees are to the success of WT.
"It's a way to show thanks and appreciation to all of our student employees."
Condray, who has been working for enrollment management for over two years, said he was excited and honored too have just been nominated.
"I was up against some tough competition," Condray said. "I appreciate the fact people felt I was a hard worker and good employee."
Condray has been credited for setting up a tracking system for higher education legislature issues, being the content coordinator of the website, helping incoming students transition, scheduling appointments, and he has even been known to prepare a home cooked meal for students in need.
"Since their was a shift in deans, I'm basically having to run the office with one other student employee," Condray said.
"We've been doing a lot of things that other student workers don't normally have to do."
Despite the hard work, Condray has enjoyed working for enrollment management and values the relationships he has established.
"I enjoy interacting with everyone and building connections," Condray said. "I've learned a lot and gained valuable leadership skills."
